Melba saw significant, rapid growth when employees from the public sector were transferred to Melba to assume responsibility for accommodation and respite services throughout Victoria. The organisation's requirements for an automated, streamlined workforce management solution meant there were significant timeframe constraints that were not negotiable. With 1,500 staff members working across 80-plus locations throughout Victoria, all offering individualised services, Melba had a complex workforce to accommodate in its digital transformation. The growth and expansion of services was an opportunity to build on Melba's values, mission, and vision to support more people and it needed the right solution.


Leveraging UKG Pro Workforce Management™, formerly known as UKG Dimensions®, for employee self-service, timekeeping, rostering, and leave management has positively shaped the employee experience at Melba, giving employees more time to focus on prioritising exceptional support and services. “UKG aligns strongly with Melba’s location-based rostering by using schedule patterns and date driven changes,” shared Melba’s ICT Manager. “Having award interpretation within the product is an excellent way to have a single point of truth for rostering and timekeeping data.”

The previous experience of the Melba workforce contributed to the organisation being able to quickly take advantage of its new technology. A large portion of the Melba workforce transferred to the organisation during its mass growth period. These employees were part of one of Victoria’s largest public sector healthcare organisations that had been utilising the power of UKG Workforce Central for many years prior.
